We offer a spectacular summit hike that delivers breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains of New York. We also offer two serene hikes that culminate in water features: one on the shores of Lake Champlain and another at a soothing riverside. Wherever we land, we will provide the mats and you roll them out to indulge in a yoga class that's good for the soul.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have more questions? Want to book a private group?

  • Roam and Om Yoga Hikes are a perfect option for couples or groups celebrating special occasions, such as bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays, girls weekend, family, retirement, bridal parties, or whatever is bringing you and your people together. These events are also a unique and fun way to show employee or client appreciation.

  • Yoga pants are always a safe bet, but you can wear any light, comfortable, athletic clothing that makes it easy for you to move. While we will take off our shoes for the yoga class, we recommend hiking boots or sturdy sneakers with ankle support for our hikes. A heavy-duty sandal like Chacos or Teva may work for you, but please do not wear flip flops!

Weather-wise, it’s important to be prepared for almost anything. We recommend bringing layers on your hike, including a fleece or warm layer and a rain jacket or poncho. Synthetic materials like polyester and nylon are superior to cotton for outdoor activities like hiking. They dry more quickly, wick moisture, and tend to be lighter-weight.

Your body needs protection when you are out in nature, so don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, a sunhat, and bug spray. You might also consider wearing long pants and long sleeves to protect against the sun and bugs.

Especially during the colder months of early spring and late fall, be prepared for low temperatures with a jacket, gloves, a hat and a scarf.

In the interest of comfort, we recommend bringing fresh clothes to change into for the drive home!

  • Roam and Om will provide mats and carrying straps for all participants, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. In addition to any personal items you might need during the hike, we recommend bringing a full water bottle, sun protection, and rain gear (even if the forecast is clear). You are responsible for carrying anything you bring. We recommend a small backpack.

  • Roam and Om will provide yoga mats and carrying straps for all participants. You are welcome to bring your own if you prefer!

  • WEATHER POLICY. Nature can be unpredictable and sometimes fierce. Our events take place “sprinkle or shine,” meaning that a little light rain won’t stop us from enjoying the outdoors. Likewise, especially cold or hot temperatures are part of the experience, and will not be a reason for cancellation. It will be up to you to monitor the weather and we recommend that you cancel the Program if you are uncomfortable with your own assessment of the weather. If in our discretion we have concerns about the safety of the group because of incoming weather (recognizing that we are not meteorologists), we may cancel the Program. Typically our decision to cancel will be made in the 24 hours’ before the start of the Program. Always check the weather before your hike and dress properly with layers and appropriate footwear. You will receive an email at the address you used for your reservation if the hike is canceled by Roam and Om.

One thing to remember is this: weather is unpredictable and a good attitude is crucial. Don’t be disappointed if it looks like gray skies or rain on the day of your event – sometimes, these can be the most magical and exciting outdoor experiences. Embrace nature in all its forms!

  • We plan the Program in advance, and our schedule is often full. To receive a full refund, you must notify us at least 8 days before the first (or only) session of the Program.

If you notify us 8 or more days in advance, we will give you a full refund.

If you cancel between 4 and 7 Days before the first session of the Program, we deduct $10 per person from the total Program Fee as an administrative fee, and then will refund 50% of the remaining balance, after the per person fee is deducted.

If you cancel 0 to 72 hours before the first session of your Program NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.

If Roam and Om has to cancel for weather or for unforeseen circumstances (for example, see our Weather Policy below), we will- at your discretion- either reschedule your Program or refund the Program Fee.

If you wish to cancel, you must email Roam and Om at info@roamandom.com.

  • There is no cost to reschedule your tour if done so at least 8 days prior to your scheduled date. Rescheduled tours must be set for the same year and rescheduling is based on availability. If your scheduled tour is in less than 8 days, there is a 50% fee to reschedule. Due to the fact that we are a small business and can only lead one tour at a time, there is no rescheduling within 72 hours. Changing your plans will result in a forfeit of 100% of the event cost and you will need to book a new event in order to reschedule. Thank you for understanding as we strive to be as flexible as possible.

  • We welcome beginners, but Roam and Om yoga hikes are best suited for those with at least some prior yoga and/or hiking experience. All of our yoga sessions are appropriate for all levels. You should be in reasonably good shape for hiking and walking to enjoy our adventures. All of the hiking trails we utilize are considered easy to moderate. We hike at an average walking pace. We always recommend consulting with a doctor before signing up.

  • That depends on a lot of factors. We are in awe of the power of the body during pregnancy. At the same time some bodies need to take it more easily than other bodies. In order to participate, we ask that you have a conversation with your OB or midwife to confirm that it is safe to participate. Anyone pregnant should inform your Roam and Om guide so we can offer modifications throughout the yoga practice. Likewise, please inform us in advance if any participants have medical conditions, injuries or allergies we should be aware of. If you have allergies - especially to stinging insects or plants which we may encounter in the outdoors - please bring an epi pen if prescribed. We ask that you consult with a doctor prior to physical activities if you have any medical conditions.

  • We welcome beginners to our classes and will try to create a flow that is accessible for everyone in your group. Please let us know if a participant has limited or no experience with yoga.

We also invite anyone who wants to experience the Yoga Hike to sit out of the yoga if they'd prefer. They are welcome to bring a book or journal or spend that time however they would like. We encourage everyone to listen to their own bodies regarding yoga participation, but this does not change the pricing.

  • Our hikes are geared towards adults, though we can accommodate eager and well-behaved kids if their guardians think they will enjoy the experience. We don't recommend bringing a child on a yoga hike if they have no experience with yoga or hiking. We will approach the attendance.of children on a case by case basis, so contact us with any questions. Legal guardians must sign the liability waiver for any participants under 18.

  • As much as we love animals, we can't allow them to accompany you during our public group yoga hikes or events. Contact us about bringing a dog on a private yoga hike.

  • Mt Philo and Niquette Bay State Parks can accommodate groups of 9. Mills Riverside Park can accommodate groups of 15. Contact us if your group exceeds these numbers.

  • Private groups require a minimum of 4 people. We welcome smaller groups of 3 or less, but the minimum booking cost is equivalent to that of 4 people. For example, if two people want to go on a private Yoga Hike, they will still pay a total of $$ (the cost for 4 participants), which means the per person cost is $$.

  • We recommend arriving at the trailhead 15 minutes prior to the scheduled hike. Please plan on carpooling if possible. Trailhead parking lots tend to fill up. Give yourself plenty of time to drive to the trailhead and secure parking. Our hike will leave on schedule. If you have not checked in 5 minutes past the scheduled hike time, the hike will leave without you and a refund will not be given.

Because Mt Philo and Niquette Bay are State Parks, there is a $4 per person admission fee. You will pay this when you drive through the gate. This fee is not part of your Yoga Hike cost. Please give yourself time to drive through the gate and pay the park attendants. You will be asked to sign a waiver. A mat and carrying strap will be provided.

  • No. Your Roam and Om guide will meet you at the trailhead, so transportation is your responsibility for your party. We recommend planning your route in advance and not relying on GPS while traveling to your event, as service can be unreliable. For this same reason, just because you can get an Uber or Lyft to the trailhead doesn’t mean you’ll be able to order one for pick-up when you are finished with your Yoga Hike.

Please, please, please prepare your transportation in advance! Some of our hikes also require you to pay an admission fee and enter through a guard station when you arrive, which adds travel time. We cannot provide refunds if you get lost on your way and miss your hike or arrive later than 5 minutes after your scheduled hike time.

  • Tipping is always appreciated and certainly not mandatory. If you are happy with your yoga hike, feel free to tip your guide.

We also appreciate positive reviews on Google and Facebook. Written affirmation is the best!

  • Any time we venture out into nature, we run the risk of encountering plants and animals that might be dangerous, such as poison ivy, bears or snakes. It's unlikely, but we should still be alert and prepared and follow responsible leave no trace practices. Do not provoke, chase, or otherwise try to interact with any wildlife you encounter.

  • Nope. We hike when mud season is over in late spring through October. During the winter months we would love to teach a private class at your home, office, vacation rental, or place of your choosing! Check out our Group & Corporate Page for more info.
